Egg contemplating the end

I made this shot for a weekly photographer's challenge at phototrini.com
The theme was "The Egg" and we were told to use a egg in any condition and any setting.
My submission was chosen as the winning one and I'm happy to say that it was untouched except for some color correction in Aperture.

A brief profile of the judge: "He is a great photographer and judges photo submissions for UWI (University of the West Indies) School of Continuing Studies' Advanced Photography course."

His comments on my photo were:
Khandid Camera wrote: "I really can't think of a bad thing to say about the shot I consider the winner. Except to say that I wish I took the picture. Yes every now and then we are all jealous of some shot that another photographer took... we look for any amount of ways to find fault with it and then realise that our obsession to be critical is just pure unadulterated ENVY!!!

Mr. Jimbo Slice...Egg contemplating the end is one such shot. Excellent use of depth of field (got scared for the egg at those nose bleeding heights), the sense of scale with the tree at the bottom of the shot, the light crossing the subject. The message is absolutely unambiguous! On writing this the only advice I could think of is maybe renaming it " HUMPTY DUMPTY before the fall"

Really great job here and thanks for sharing."

Here is the picture that was submitted: -

Aperture: 5.6
Shutter speed: 1/1600
ISO: 200
Focal length: 18mm (27mm equivalent for 35mm)
Camera model: Nikon D90
Lens: 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR

Inspiration for this shot came out of the blue actually, I wanted to give more of an artistic impression while still showcasing my limited technical ability as I'm a mere amateur. The great distance covered in the shot allowed me to explore the depth of field to give an even greater sense of impending doom.
